The Life Development Institute’s Emerging Leaders Virtual Summer Program features a new course “The Future of Work” for Summer 2020, addressing the new realities of finding and getting a job without a face-to-face interview.
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted potential candidates in finding a job as well as drastically reshaping the way employers are/will recruit the post-pandemic workforce. Traditional job-seeking methods are undergoing a dramatic transformation, as recruiters move towards more virtual interviewing of candidates and restricting in-person applicants from face-to-face methods of applying for work. For most prospective employees, it means developing a new tool kit of virtual job-seeking skills.
Students will engage in coursework that blends traditional search methods with emerging virtual best practices, strategies, and techniques necessary to navigate the new landscape of job searching and hiring. Virtual Academy students will build a personal profile identifying work-related interests, abilities, and preferences, use profile information to research local companies that align with these characteristics, and become a more skilled interviewee using virtual interview simulators, role-playing with peers/staff, and live online interviewing with local employers.
