LDI has recently had several students earn their National Career Readiness Certificate.
For those who have not heard of this, the NCRC is awarded from a series of exams that essentially gives proof that an individual possesses the skills that most employers deem essential to workplace success.
The WorkKeys Program is a part of ACT, a company whose programs are designed to boost lifelong learning and potential for success in schools and workplaces around the world. ACT’s vision is: Helping people achieve education and workplace success.
“The National Career Readiness Certificate™ (NCRC®) is based on an individual’s performance on three WorkKeys® skills assessments: Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information. Scores on these assessments determine the certificate level—bronze, silver, gold, or platinum—an individual can earn.”
These assessments measure a range of essential work skills, including the ability to:
- Perform basic mathematic operations relevant to the workplace
- Read and understand documents commonly found in the workplace
- Find information presented in common workplace graphics
- Set up and solve complex work-related math problems
- Determine the relevance of written information to work-related tasks
- Apply information derived from graphics to work-related problems
LDI has integrated ACT’s WorkKeys and Career Ready programs in order to help students work toward identifying a career and then achieving a certificate to help them on their path to career success.
LDI students Hana, Baxter, and Dexter have received Gold Certificates, and Jordan has received a Bronze. Receiving a Gold Certificate means that the individual demonstrates foundational skills associated with at least 93% of jobs in the ACT JobPro database! Our students can now add this to their resumes as proof of their skills.
