As a parent or caregiver with an underaged or adult child with special needs, do you ever wonder why despite your “super parenting” efforts, you seem to find yourself experiencing so much guilt, fear, frustration, anger or all of the above?! Join guest speaker Veronica Lieb Crawford, MA, Board Certified Sr. Disability Analyst and President of PART (People Achieving Results Together) on October 17th, for a workshop dedicated to help parents and other family members struggling to emotionally manage lifelong concerns they have for their special needs children.
It is becoming increasingly common, both in families that have special needs children as well as those who do not, for parents to find themselves getting reactively “stuck” over issues such as ensuring personal safety, over-planning for every schedule contingency, not feeling heard by professionals, and dealing with impatience or a lack of understanding from other family members.
This presentation and shared conversations are ideal for parents who don’t have satisfactory answers to questions such as:
Do you have feelings that you don’t know what to do with?
Do you catch yourself saying things like, “I have to protect them from everything and everyone.”?
They are so naive; I wish that others would understand?
Do you ever hear a voice in your head saying that things will never change and no one gets it?
Do you worry endlessly that they will never have a job or real friends; they will never have someone to love?
Do you find yourself mourning for them but realize that you haven’t taken the time to grieve for yourself and the life you hoped you would have together?
If any of this is true for you, then this is a must-attend workshop to hear some real truths about a parent’s reality in coping with this life approach. Get some real answers on these matters and others and some real guidance on steps to take. This time, you won’t walk out feeling like you have learned nothing, but instead you will have some hard answers on things that others have been too afraid to tell you.
If you’re willing to be open to listening to some hard truths about the intent and impact of over-parenting, you won’t walk away feeling you’ve learned nothing as well as get some real guidance on strategies to implement. Come hear what you have been missing out on!
