The Academy of Lifelong Learning (Day High School Program)
The Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) provides an ideal transitional bridge from high school to higher education, employability and better quality of life for 11th and 12th grade students with Asperger’s syndrome, PDD, NLD, ADHD and similar social or learning differences. Academy students are non-traditional learners and thinkers who have a broad range of relative academic and personal strengths. ALL students will have a diploma-tracked academic program with practical life preparation instruction and guidance to improve social thinking and overall Executive Functioning (EF). The Emerging Leaders Summer Academy
College and Postsecondary Preparation: The Emerging Leaders Summer Academy provides an ideal transitional bridge to higher education and career development for young adults with LD, ADHD, NVLD, Autism, Asperger’s syndrome and similar social or learning differences who are 16 years of age and older. Summer Academy participants are non-traditional learners who have a broad range of relative academic & personal strengths as well as unique learning styles. The Summer Academy prepares participants for the next stages of higher-education as well as transitioning into adult life, using a specialized approach to learning, specific strategies harnessing the potential of each person’s learning style embedding diversity/cultural/leadership skills usually offered only in the corporate/ business community. The Post-Secondary Program
LDI students begin their career or academic journey in our supportive campus and inclusive residential community, which provides access to institutions of higher learning, work experience and civic engagement. We celebrate and honor each student’s progress toward becoming confident, capable and independent adults.
Some features and highlights:
- Dual-enrollment in local college or career courses and LDI’s core program of instruction
- Apartment living in a private, gated residential adult community
- Student-driven Plan of Action assesses personal development of typical adult knowledge and applied skills
- Diversity Leadership studies creates citizen-advocates capable of responsible communication and effective team-base collaboration.
- On-site evening and 24/7 on-call emergency staff providing mentoring and support, as needed
