Free Workshop: The ABC’s of Special Needs Trust Planning

A FREE LEARNING DISABILITY & AUTISM (ASD) WORKSHOP PRESENTED BY LIFE DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE

You must plan carefully if you want to leave money or property to a loved one with a disability. Setting up a supplemental or special needs trust for a loved one with a disability may avoid jeopardizing their ability to receive government benefits, such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid benefits.

Leaving some assets, such as cash in the bank, can disqualify your loved one from some of these benefits. But a special needs, or supplemental needs trust can provide your loved one with a wide variety of goods and services without interfering with eligibility for SSI and Medicaid.

Attendees will learn from over 40 years of cumulative experience in this 90 min workshop. Topics of discussion will include:

  • How do I keep government benefits in place? How do I avoid payback for benefits received?
  • What happens when I pass on? Who will care for my loved one?
  • What is a Special Needs Trust and how does it work? Do I still need a will?
  • If I already have a Special Needs Trust …. is it the right kind?
  • What happens when my child turns 18? What is Guardianship? How and when do I petition the
    court?
  • Learn all the key concepts of a comprehensive special needs plan, that families and caregivers can
    put into action today.

Special needs planning is no longer an option; it’s a necessity.

Families will be educated around how to set up a successful special needs plan for their loved one.
