Enrollment is based on a rolling admissions/open entry process for trimester starting points approximately every 16 weeks. Depending on individual circumstances, desired late starting dates for enrollment can and do occur. Potential candidates for LDI’s program are interviewed throughout the calendar year for admission.

Upon completion and submission of student application information and most recent testing, an on-campus interview with LDI administrators will be arranged and scheduled. The interview and campus tour will consist of a full discussion of the LDI program components, meetings with several staff members, and a tour of the residential complex where LDI students live and are engaged in social, independent-living and community-based activities. The interview/visit must be scheduled in advance; its duration is approximately 4-5 hours.

Students must be at least 18 years of age at the time the first trimester begins; however, interested applicants may apply up to one year in advance of their planned start date.

All instruction at the LDI ISP and area colleges occurs in English. Therefore, international applicants, whose primary language is not English, must have sufficient command of the language to benefit from instruction in either setting. To demonstrate this proficiency, all applicants from countries where English is not the primary language, must submit official score results from accepted sources. Accepted tests for the LDI ISP would be TOEFL, IELTS, or ACCUPLACER ESL.

All incoming international students will have the opportunity to demonstrate sufficient English proficiency during the mandatory entrance interview as well as an evaluation of their transcripts could lead to a determination to grant a waiver of the language requirement.

All students must submit an International Student Application with a non-refundable $50 USD application fee and be interviewed via Skype or in person. Acceptance materials (including an I-20 form) will not be issued until the student interview and application fee is received. If a student who has paid the application fee is unable to obtain an M-1 student Visa, he/she will be eligible to defer to a later trimester. Deferment can only occur once. If a student must defer more than once, whether for reasons of Visa denial or other reason, a new application fee and updated financial information must be submitted. Additionally, depending on educational background, all students must take a COMPASS or ACCUPLACER placement exam shortly after they arrive on campus which costs $30 USD.
